Skin Cancer:

Skin cancer is increasing at an epidemic rate in our society. The best treatment known is prevention, however, for those of us who have spent hours and hours in the sun as children, we must do whatever we possibly can to avoid developing it. It is difficult for many people to avoid sunshine, especially athletes and outdoor workers. It’s even more challenging when the warmth of the sun feels so good on your body. Dr. Metcalfe recommends treating your skin externally as well as internally to reduce the risk of skin cancer. She also recommends that you keep a close eye on your skin and look for changes in colors and sizes of moles, or new pigmented areas. See a dermatologist once a year if you are concerned or maybe have a genetic predisposition to skin cancer. Remember, act quickly if you notice anything unusual.
