Hepatitis: Hepatitis is an inflammation of the cells of the liver. It may be caused from a variety of viruses (Epstein Barr virus, Cytomegalovirus, Hepatitis A, B, C or D virus), alcohol and drugs. Hepatitis A is also called Acute Viral Hepatitis, and it usually infects the liver for four to six weeks followed by complete recovery. Hepatitis B is a chronic virus, which may lead to cirrhosis of the liver or remain latent and make its host a carrier of the virus. Hepatitis C virus is becoming more common in the past few years, and is also a chronic illness, which is linked to liver cancer. Hepatitis A virus is spread by fecal-oral infective routes. It is commonly spread in restaurants, where infected food workers dont wash their hands after using a bathroom, or by sexual contact. Hepatitis B and C are usually transferred by blood.
