Gout:

Gouty Arthritis is caused by either the overproduction of uric acid by the liver or the undersecretion of uric acid by the kidneys. It commonly occurs in males over the age of forty, and first arises in one of the large toe joints. Gout often arises acutely with no warning. It can be incredibly painful and difficult to put any pressure on the afflicted joint. Dr.Metcalfe has had great success treating Gout with natural products and dietary changes. Dr. Metcalfe always does a 24 hour urine sample test to determine the exact cause of gout.

Signs and Symptoms:

Severe pain in one of the peripheral joints of the body.
Redness of the joint.
Joint is warm and the skin is shiny.

Treatment:

Avoid stress.

Dietary Changes:

Drink black cherry juice every day.
Avoid purine – rich foods: beans, organ meats, lentils, sardines, herring and nuts.
