Arthritis:

Arthritis is an inflammatory disease of the joints of the body. It is a common disease often associated with aging. You can see the effects and degrees of intensity throughout the population. Some people complain of slight discomfort, whereas some people have severe joint disfiguration. However, it can afflict people from youth. It is often a chronic ailment, which becomes more severe over time. Dr. Metcalfe believes that most arthritis is preventable, and should be treated as early as possible. Even before the first symptoms of arthritis arises, joint destruction has already occurred. The three most common types of arthritis are osteoarthritis (also known as degenerative joint disease djd), rheumatoid arthritis and gout. Arthritis is now a treatable disease, and people can be free of the pain they have endured.

Rheumatoid arthritis:

Caused by the body's own immune system attacking itself.

This process forms large immune complexes, which get deposited in the joints. This disease may begin in childhood and there is a strong genetic predisposition for it. However, the cause is unknown and there is also belief that there may be some infectious cause as well. Dr. Metcalfe recommends food IgE and IgG allergy testing with this diagnosis along with a comprehensive blood panel.
